I am so blessed to be here on the Hibiscus Coast to continue my missionary journey with you all. I came back to New Zealand towards the end of 2014, having been overseas from 1970 onwards. So, coming home again.
I was ordained in Whangarei in 1970, and was appointed to Miri Diocese in Sarawak, East Malaysia.
In 1984 I was appointed to St. Josephís College, Mill Hill, London, for Vocation Ministry for 2 years; then as student counsellor for a couple of years; then as Rector of the seminary for 6 years. Had a sabbatical in Rome, doing some study at the Angelicum University. Got my next appointment while I was there Ė to be part of the Mill Hill Community in New York. I served in the Archdiocese of New York as Co-ordinator for Special and Pastoral Ministry. After 18 years there, I was appointed home to NZ. I served in the parish of St. Mark in Pakuranga for 3 years. Then, in January 2018, I was appointed to the Mid North Pastoral Area, based in Okaihau Ė serving 8 church communities.
Now, in December 2018, I got my appointment to come to the Hibiscus Coast.
And so the journey continues. Iím very blessed to be appointed to the Hibiscus Coast and am looking forward to continue building the Community there with you all. We may have a long way to go, but, together we will get there.† ††

This year the service has been prepared by the interchurch women of Slovenia. We will enjoy learning more about this small country and its faith life. An invitation is extended to all parishioners to attend.
Do we have any parishioners from Slovenia as we are looking for a flag and perhaps the national costume.

Gardening Coordinator needed for St Francis Church
We are looking for someone from the St Francis Church community who is willing to coordinate gardening maintenance at St Francis Church.†
The role involves scheduling regular working bees (approximately four per year) and providing guidance to volunteer gardeners on what work is needed.†If we cannot get someone to fulfil the role, the parish will have to consider engaging a contractor to undertake the gardening work and of course, this would involve considerable expense that we can ill afford.†
If you can help, please contact Theresa in the Parish Office.
Would you be interested in joining our St Francis team of Sacristans. We have two teams, one for the 9.30am Friday Mass and another for the 8.30am Sunday Mass.
Training and support happily provided. If you would like to discuss this further please phone Anne Murphy on 027 6629744.
