This is the first part of the implementation this year of the Parish Plan, “Be visible, present and active, working for the poor and marginalised.”
This years food collection will be conducted during the four school terms with a 2 week rest between terms. The first collection has commenced and finishes
on Sunday 2 April. All donations of food will be sent to Love Soup in Whangaparaoa for distribution to some of the 400 plus families (and growing) in the Parish catchment area
who rely on assistance to survive. We thank you all in advance for any donations you can make during these difficult times we live in. If you know of any families or individuals needing food assistance,
an application form is available at the back of St Francis’ or St John’s church to fill in.
Our Mission: to help feed hungry Auckland families in need. To make a difference!
The Need: a growing proportion of New Zealanders are finding it increasingly difficult to provide enough food for themselves and their families. Demand for emergency
food since Covid 19 started, has skyrocketed. According to TVNZ news, food shortages are now at a critical point.
Food as an Essential service
NZ Police have advised that we are performing an essential service. This means that you can travel to drop off your cans to:

The Canathon will run from 10 September to 17 December so we are hoping to raise as much as possible.
Please help us reach our goals, by continuing to donate your individual cans and trays of cans.
Or if it suits you better, you can donate cash or a gift voucher, or make a deposit into our bank account marked “Canathon”.
